Monument of Trust: The Arena
Y-events, Divadlo X10, Prague
15 March 2026
On 15 March 2026, Monument of Trust: The Arena, a large-scale durational performance by Ivana Ivković, was presented at Divadlo X10 in Prague as part of the Y: Haunted Realities I. (Monument) program, in collaboration with Bazaar Festival.
Conceived as the culminating chapter of the long-term project Monument of Trust, the work examines corruption as a structural condition shaping contemporary life. Through an immersive, site-specific environment, the performance dissolved boundaries between audience and performers, placing viewers within a continuously shifting field of power, proximity, and vulnerability. A monumental scaffold structure transformed the space into a closed arena, where performers occupied elevated and grounded positions in cyclical movement over five hours. This choreography of ascent and descent—accompanied by a sound composition developed with Mads Bitman—foregrounded exhaustion, instability, and the erosion of trust as embodied experiences.
Curated by Anna Chrtková and Petr Dlouhý, the event also included a public discussion with Ivana Jećmenica. Proceeds from the event were dedicated to supporting ongoing civil protests in Serbia.
Monument of Trust is a multi-part artistic cycle addressing corruption as a force that destabilizes social relations and collective trust. Presented in the context of growing political unrest and social fragmentation across Europe, The Arena reflects on the conditions that shape contemporary subjectivity and the possibilities of solidarity within them.
