We are pleased to share a new interview with Ivana Ivković, published in Loophole magazine and conducted by Jelena Martinović.

The conversation looks back over two decades of Ivković’s practice, from drawing and photography to her delegated performances with groups of non-professional male performers. She talks about the politics of the collective male body, about trust and corruption as both personal and systemic conditions and about the charged institutional spaces her work inhabits. It also touches on solidarity, and on what it means to be an artist in Serbia right now.

The interview comes at a significant moment in Belgrade. Her first delegated performance, Lines, Rows, Columns (Dormitory) was just reperformed at the Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade as part of Personal Stories / Political Realities (on view through September). Earlier this year, COM/PASSION was presented at the Faculty of Fine Arts, and Monument of Trust: The Arena was staged in Prague.

In the interview, Ivković says: “a place where solidarity can briefly become real.”
