Šejla Kamerić

We’re pleased to announce Šejla Kamerić: Echoes of power – Self-Image, Memory, Design opening at the Villingen-Schwenningen City Gallery on October 24, 2026.

On view until: January 24, 2027

The exhibition focuses on how female identity is shaped by the interplay of personal experience, historical memory, and social power structures. Bringing together photographs, installations, films, and texts. Kamerić’s works reveal how personal biography and collective history overlap as fragile and often contradictory spaces of resonance. The body appears not as a stable locus, but as aprojection surface, an archive, and a battleground for conflicts—yet also as a moment of self-assertion and self-empowerment.

Echoes of Power highlights the aftereffects of power showing how power relations are not limited to institutions, but are also inscribed in bodies, images, and perceptions. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on their own position within the web of gazes, stories, and meanings.

The exhibition is accompanied by an educational program featuring talks, workshops, and interactive activities that encourage dialogue and the exchange of perspectives.
