:mentalKLINIK: EAT ME, Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg
- Back to news
We are proud to invite you to a contemporary opera EAT ME at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on Friday, 8 May, by oester, directed by Aïda Gabriëls, with the scenography and installation by :mentalKLINIK.
Following the première on 30 April at Concertgebouw Brugge EAT ME unfolds within :mentalKLINIK’s installation where the opera moves through the art pieces, choreography emerges from objects in use and on the verge of use. :mentalKLINIK installs a behavioural economy. There’s no stable vantage point, no outside to retreat to. Audience, performers, musicians circulate inside the same script, caught between display and participation. It’s less a banquet than a feedback loop—desire staged, distributed, and left to run.
The work brings together a wide-ranging creative team:
Libretto by Dominique De Groen; composition and arrangements by Jonathan Bonny; dramaturgy by Tessa Agnes, Lena Meyskens, and Rudi Laermans; choreography and movement direction by Matteo Sedda; costumes by Maarten Van Mulken.
Performed by Blandine Coulon, Linde Carrijn, Captain Casablanca, Romain Dayez, Timo Tembuyser, and B’Rock Orchestra, with Elfa Rún Kristinsdóttir, Rebecca Huber, Yukiko Murakami, Asako Ueda, and Dimos de Beun.
Technical coordination is led by Anne van Es, with sound by Korneel Moreaux. The production also features an executive rubber sculpture by Marlou Breuls (House of Rubber).
Produced by oester in coproduction with B-Classic, B’Rock Orchestra, Muziektheater Transparant, Concertgebouw Brugge, and PerPodium.
